Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
- What’s the minimum operating pressure for a single outlet shower valve?
0.2 bar dynamic
- What’s the minimum operating pressure for a dual outlet shower valve?
0.4 bar dynamic
- Why is my shower temperature fluctuating, either very hot or very cold?
Check that the inlets to the shower are the correct orientation – Hot is on the left hand side as you look at the shower on the wall and cold is on the right
Remove and service thermostatic cartridge to remove any system debris and scale which could be affecting the operation of the shower valve (please see servicing instructions)
- What are the inlet centres on a standard Inta bar shower?
150mm pipework centres +/- 20mm
- My shower has been installed for a while and was initially working fine, now it won’t get hot enough?
Check the outlet temperature from your heat source is between 55° - 65°
Re-calibrate your thermostatic cartridge as shown in the product IOMS
Service the thermostatic cartridge to remove any system debris or scale which could be affecting the operation of the shower valve (please see servicing instructions)
- What model of shower do I have?
The vast majority of Inta bar showers will have a Code marked at the back of the bar shower between the inlets, this code identifies the product. However if not then you can upload an image of your shower to the Identify My Shower section of the website.
- How do I service my Inta Shower?
Basic maintenance instructions can be found in the products Installation and operation manual. If anything further than these are required then please contact the Inta technical department.
- What is the warranty period of an Inta Shower?
5 Years from the data of purchase against a manufacturing fault.
- What should I use to clean the surface of my shower valve?
Inta shower valves have a high quality finish and should be treated with care. An occasional wipe with a mild washing-up liquid on a soft damp cloth followed by a thorough rinsing is all that is required. Do not use an abrasive or chemical household cleaner as this may cause damage to the surface finish.
- Is it possible to cut down the fixed riser on an Inta shower valve?
It is NOT possible to cut the riser pipe down on any of the Inta Showers.
- Are any Inta showers WRAS approved? If so which ones?
- Does my non concussive tap have an adjustable flow time?
The only tap within the non-concussive tap range with an adjustable flow time is the NC177CP
- What’s the minimum operating pressure of Inta non-concussive taps?
0.2 bar dynamic.
- Can the flow rate on my tap be reduced?
Yes there is a range of flow regulators available for our non-concussive taps, please contact our technical department for part codes and descriptions. Flow regulators are inserted into the inlet tail of the tap.
- What is the warranty period on non-concussive taps?
Our commercial range is covered by a 12 month guarantee against any manufacturing fault.
- How do I service my non concussive tap?
Servicing instructions are available on request from the technical department.
- How do you recommend cleaning the surface of my tap without damaging the finish?
Inta taps have a high quality finish and should be treated with care. An occasional wipe with a mild washing-up liquid on a soft damp cloth followed by a thorough rinsing is all that is required. Do not use an abrasive or chemical household cleaner as this may cause damage to the surface finish.
- Are any Inta non concussive taps that are WRAS approved? If so which ones?
- How many taps can an Intamix TMV2/TMV3 supply?
TMV3 Application – When fitted into a TMV3 environment the Intamix thermostatic mixing valves are to be used on point of use outlets i.e. 1 mixing valve to be used per each hot outlet
TMV2 Application – In a TMV2 application 1 mixing valve can supply 2 back-to-back basins.
- In what instance do I require a mixing valve to be installed?
Anywhere where users are at risk of scalding or when safe blended hot water is to be used.
- What considerations are to be made before installing a Thermostatic Mixing Valve?
Does it need to comply with TMV2 or TMV3 regulation?
What is the maximum flow rate achievable to size a TMV correctly?
- What is the warranty period for a thermostatic mixing valve?
Our commercial range is covered by a 12 month guarantee against any manufacturing fault.
- What is the maximum permissible pressure differential allowed between the hot and cold inlets?
The maximum pressure differential on our Intamix range is 5:1, whereas on our Intamix Pro range it will be 2:1.
- Where is the best location to fit a Thermostatic Mixing Valve?
Ideally the TMV must be fitted as close as possible to the outlet it is supplying – the maximum distance is 2 meters.
- Does my timed flow shower have an adjustable flow time?
The only valves within the Timed Flow Shower range with an adjustable flow time is the TF177CP & TF178CP.
- What’s the minimum operating pressure of an Inta Timed Flow Control?
0.2 bar dynamic.
- Can the flow rate on my tap be reduced?
Yes there is a range of flow regulators available for our timed flow shower, please contact our technical department for part codes and descriptions.
- What is the warranty period on a timed flow shower?
Our commercial range is covered by a 12 month guarantee against any manufacturing fault.
- How do I service my timed flow shower?
Servicing instructions are available on request from the technical department.
- What shall I clean the exposed surface of the timed flow shower using?
Inta showers have a high quality finish and should be treated with care. An occasional wipe with a mild washing-up liquid on a soft damp cloth followed by a thorough rinsing is all that is required. Do not use an abrasive or chemical household cleaner as this may cause damage to the surface finish.
- Are any Inta Timed Flow Showers WRAS approved? If so which ones?

- TF99230CP
- TF997CP
- TF99730CP
- TF222CP150
- TF222CP200
- TF222CP250
- My showers run time is not running within its specification?
If the showers run time is 15 Seconds +/- 5 then this is correct.
Ensure that you have sufficient pressure supplying the shower valve – our timed flow shower valves have a minimum operating pressure of 0.2 Bar dynamic
Service the timed flow cartridge as there may be a build-up of system debris or scale which could affect the showers performance. Product servicing instructions are available upon request from the technical department.
- What is the warranty period on the Inta Infra-red Taps?
Our commercial range is covered by a 12 month guarantee against any manufacturing fault
- What is the minimum operating pressure for Inta Infra-red Taps?
1 bar dynamic.
- Are they a BREEAM compliant product?
Yes as they have an integral 6Litre per minute flow regulator fitted as standard.
- Is the sensor range adjustable?
The sensing range of the tap is preset and should not require adjustment.
If however the range needs to be adjusted, it can be using the following procedure;
Unplug the power connector (10), or in the case of the transformer - turn off the power supply.
Wait for 30 seconds before re-connecting or turning on the power supply.
When the red LED blinks (if it switches off, it is necessary to unplug the power connector or turn off the power supply and repeat the operation), put one hand immediately in front of the sensor (at a maximum distance of 5cm).
When the red LED lights up permanently, move your hand to the desired sensor distance.
Wait for the LED to turn off before moving your hand; at this point the new distance is stored.
The new setting will be stored in case of battery replacement or failure of the electrical supply.
- My tap is passing water when off?
Debris present on the solenoid diaphragm can cause it to not shut completely.
To rectify or service the solenoid valve – servicing instructions can be obtained from Inta’s Technical Department.
- Sensor flashing continuously when hands are in range?
Low Battery Indicator/Low Voltage Indicator.
- Is the Infra-Red tap a mixer tap?
No it is not a mixer tap – it takes a single inlet of pre-mixed water and should be supplied via an Intamix TMV.
- Tap runs when hands not in range?
Ensure sensor eye is clean and free from any dirt etc.
Ensure no reflective surfaces are present which could set off the sensor, and no-one in the vicinity of the tap is wearing high visibility clothing as this can trigger the sensor to operate.
